June 2008,
extract from messageboard, GlescaPal
Ozbill, Aged 72yrs, Australia
This was the 199th Glasgow Boys Brigade
attached to the Morriston Church, Cambuslang
which was replaced by the new St Andrews
church in the town development of the early
1960's. This photo was taken c1956
My cousin Bill Nisbet (known to the
Webmaister) is the officer on the extreme
left. I was wondering if the lass in the front
row who was the lifeboy leader might be the
Captain Jean Black of the present 229th BB.
(Its not, Sept 2017
identified as Isa Park)
I was in the 199th for a couple of years but
was unable to regularly attend the church
parade on Sunday mornings because of my
commitments with the Salvation Army. My cousin
Bill tried to intercede with Captain Nugent to
give me an exemption as I was attending
church, albeit another denomination, but it
was no can do.
|
Many Thanks OzBill its a
fabulous photo, I must say the Captain was
being a bit strict not allowing you to
attend.
I do indeed know your cousin Bill &
his wife May who both are elders of
St.Andrew's Church in Cambuslang.
Regards, Webmaister Jun.2008

I had the pleasure of meeting Ozbill and his
family at his cousin's Bill house in East
Kilbride where I took this photo. Ozbill is
back hame wi' his wife, son, daughter and
son-in-law.
Bill, a family friend, invited us up to his
house for the family gathering, PiggeryBrae (minus Fergi who was ill) provided the music! It was
lovely to meet all the family.
