I was delighted to receive an invitation, along with my PiggeryBrae colleague Alastair MacFarlane, to this event from the Captain of the 229th Glasgow BB

Colour Party
"Thank you for the pictures you have uploaded onto you site regarding the Queen's Men Parade.  
You may or may not know that the Colour Party consisted of two Companies... the 208th and 79th Glasgow. I was carrying the Queen's Colour whilst my Staffy was carrying the Battalion Colour.  
My S/Sgt James McAlpine and one of the Escorts (Andrew Higton) received their certificates that night...

Capt.Harkins I am a very good friend of S/Sgt James McAlpine's grandparents, Davie & Sheila Davidson and indeed I met them at George Square that evening...... it's a small world. Regards, Webmaister.
