This entrance to St Thomas’ Methodist Church is on the south side of the Gallowgate between Wesleyan St. and Orr St.


 

c1960 St.Thomas Church, Gallowgate junction of David Street.
Looking eastwards along the Gallowgate towards Parkhead,   Church was built 1850

St. Thomas's church in the Gallowgate has been demolished and the services are now conducted in the church hall in David Street junction of the Gallowgate, the old church hall the Boys' Brigade met in.

I attended St.Thomas,Church of Scotland in the fifties and was in the Life Boys (177) who met in the church hall which is now all thats left and is now accessed from David Street.

I was born and brought up in Forrest street in the Mile End of Glasgow . I went to Annfield Primary and then on to john Street Secondary. Iattended st. thomas gallowgate church. The ministers name was rev. ian scott. He lived in broompark drive., dennistoun. He was an aberdonian.

Hello, thank you so much for this wonderful site. My grandparents were married at the Parish Church of St. Thomas in 1920 and I was searching for a photo of the church. They lived on Gallowgate, so I think it is the one here in the photo. Is there any way for me to get a copy of this photo?
