CAMBUSLANG Parish
Church benefited from the help of some
good folk!
For Cambuslang folk
music band PiggeryBrae played at the
church’s to help raise money for church
funds. And around £800 was raised, which
delighted the church members.
PiggeryBrae laid
on a good two hour show which was filled
with songs, fun and laughter all of
which was warmly received by the
audience.
The church resounded to the sounds of
laughter and song along with the
band’s instruments of guitars, fiddle,
mandolin, bodhran, spoons, mouth
organ, flute and whistles.
At the end of the evening the church’s
associate minister Reverend Hilary
McDougall gave a vote of thanks to
PiggeryBrae and the committee who
organised the event. She then invited
everyone to a feast of home baking and
refreshments in the church hall.
“Despite the horrendous wet windy
night there was an excellent turnout
at the concert.”
All proceeds from the concert went
towards the Cambuslang Parish Church
refurbishment fund.
Raising
money for good causes is nothing new for
PiggeryBrae. In recent years they have
performed for a variety of charities and
organisations, including Cambuslang and
District Voluntary Care Club, Cambuslang
and Rutherglen Carers, the Ciaran Pryce
Appeal, Cambuslang and Rutherglen Reachout
Trust, Children 1st’s Rutherglen and
Cambuslang branch, The Haven, and played
at numerous local churches.
They’ve also helped
other organisations outwith the local
area, including
St Vincent’s school for the
deafblind, St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie, the
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland, Clic
Sargent, the Maggie’s Centre in Glasgow,
Prostate Scotland, Water for Africa, and the RNLI.
