 the
'Sarry Heid'  209 Gallowgate at the Barra's

.

The Saracen Head, or Sarry Heid as it is known to Glesga folk
was built in 1755, it originally was built across the road from its present location.

There is a lot of history to the pub which was owned and run by the same family for over 100 years. Angus Ross's family owned the pub for over a century up until he retired in 1991. Angus it is reported now haunts the pub

The bar is haunted with the ghosts of drinkers past
and the skull of allegedly, the last witch to be executed
in Scotland sits in a glass case at the bar.

Former customers include Burns, Boswell and Dr Johnson.
The economist Adam Smith was ejected after calling the doctor a "son of a bitch", and some would say a feisty atmosphere still remains.
Billy Connolly translated the Last Supper sketch to the Saracen's Head pub in which he depicts Christ as wearing a jaggy bunnet and entering a pub, steamin' drunk.
