, photograph sent by GlescaPal Brian Charlton, Blantyre, Scotland
.........This is my brothers class, Edward Charlton, he is No. 2 in the back row.  Circa 1955    See also c1958

Eddie Charlton was born Sept.1947. He attended Newlands Primary School, Parkhead along with his brother Brian (see Newlands Primary 1960a). Then Riverside Secondary School (see photo Riverside 1959 )
Eddie and Brian were brought up by their mother who was widowed when Eddie was only 5 and Brian 2. They lived in Edmiston St. Parkhead. Eddie later served his time as a Turner Fitter in Davy & United, Bridgeton, he also attended David Dale College in Bridgeton.
Eddie married in 1968 to Eleanor Parker, emigrated to South Africa in 1972 where he lived till he returned to Scotland in 2001. They had three children before his marriage ended in divorce. Sadly, he was killed in an industrial accident in July 2001 not long after returning to Scotland. His name is engraved on the Memorial Wall in Kelvingrove Museum just inside the rear entrance on the right hand side.

Hello there, I have seen that you have posted pictures from Glasgow elementary schools in the 50s, and I recognise my father in two of them if you would  like to add them, though I realise this page is very old.
In the Newlands School 1955a my father is in the top row, very centre (fifth from left)
In the Newlands School 1958 he is again fifth from right (the tallest of the bunch!)  His name is Grant Laing. He passed away in 2013. Thanks for providing these photos!  These are some of the only ones we have of him.

  Jan.2016, John Hunter, Australia
School photo 1955a  Top row, third from left is John Hunter.
I think the boy 3rd from the left in row 4 might be James Spence. The girl  7th in the 2nd row may be Pamela Stevenson.
The boy 1st in the front row may be Brian Morton ?
In the Riverside 1959 photo I think I may be the person top row 3rd from left , although it has the name Ian Buchanan. Not sure though.  Thanks for your good work  Regards John
