Houses on the left are in Barrowfield Street most of these are also boarded up.
Barrowfield estate has been run down for many years.
This photo were taken on a Thursday afternoon.

.Stamford Street.
...an armed police marksman crouches at the ready outside a flat in Stamford Street.

Armed police surrounded a house in an operation believed to be linked to a murder investigation.
Marksmen with high powered rifles took up position as local streets were cleared. It all ended after several hours with no arrests being made.
A local man was attacked by a gang the previous night and he died of his injuries in Glasgow's Royal Infirmary, he is understood to have been stabbed following  a row over a car that had been damaged and set on fire. It was reported that shots had been fired, hence the police reaction....................sad to see guns creeping into our society .....

Aug,2017, email.  Mamie Reid (nee Wotherspoon), Age 57, Melbourne, Australia.
I'm looking for anyone who lived in Stamford street before 1970. I have looked on this site and I can't find my old school. I'm not sure of the spelling but it was kamlacki primary school at the top of Stamford street you turned right and the school was there. I remember a teacher called miss Wishart

Hi Mamie, Thanks for taking the time to contact GlescaPals and your enquiry about Camlachie Primary School.
The school dated from May 1876 and served Camlachie, Barrowfield and Vinegarhill.
I also went to Camlachie Primary School and enjoyed my time there before moving on to Riverside.
You might also want to check out parkheadhistory.com which has a lot of information about Camlachie.
Best Regards, Peter Mortimer
