I was conveniently called
William, named after my mother's brother William Evans and my father's
brother William McArthur. It means a great deal to me and I always use my
full name. W.E.McArthur.

Corner
of Dalmarnock Rd and Fairbairn St. and still existing is the church I
attended. As a young lad I went to the Sunday School there ( Dalmarnock
Congregational then ) taken by my Mums cousin, "Aunt
Ruby Mullen" (now Galt) and joined the 175th Boys
Brigade as a shipmate then lifeboy then at 12 yrs old joined the
Company section The Captain in those days was Mr.Smart. I loved the BB and
stayed on to became an officer at 18 and remained so until 1989.

I
attended Queen Mary St. School for one year then
Dalmarnock Primary School.
I
then attended John Street Senior Secondary School,
in Tullis Street, Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland
I left school and furthered my education with British Telecom.
All around us in Bridgeton the houses were getting demolished and in the
early seventies we had to move from Fairbairn St and were rehoused in Braidfauld
St. Auchenshuggle

1984 my pal Jas Turnbull became
the master of Lodge Burnside 1361
The hall lights were dimmed and an announcement was made that a special lady
dressed in black was entering the hall... I think he thought he was getting a stripogram !
What he got was me dressed up as a nun! |

Sadly Margaret and I split-up in 1991,
now divorced.
In 1998 I moved into a new house with Eileen, she has a son Samuel
born in1985.
