50 Flags is the remarkable
story of Rangers' world record 50 domestic League Championships.
From the earliest victory in 1891 to the unbelievable day the 50th title was won
in May 2003
with a 6-1 victory over Dunfermline at Ibrox
The result meant Celtic were pipped to the title by one goal difference, after
beating Kilmarnock 4-0.
Rangers scored 95 goals while Celtic clinched 94 throughout the season.
Alex McLeish, in his first full season as Rangers' manager, said his players had
"exceeded his expectation".
Celtic boss Martin O'Neill said he thought his side "could not have done any
more".
Celtic's chances faded when Thompson missed a late penalty. Stilian Petrov put
Celtic 4-0 ahead,
but it was too late as Mikel Arteta's penalty gave Rangers a 6-1 win and the
championship.
.
A Remarkable season where Alex
McLeish became the sixth Rangers manager to deliver a treble
when he swept the boards in fantastic style in season 2002-03, his first full
season in charge.
Despite limited resources on the transfer front, he stormed to a clean sweep
beating Celtic in the CIS final,
Dundee in the Scottish Cup final and clinching the SPL title - our 50th League
title!
