June 2009. This

I have been told the picture was taken
outside Crail Church which is situated in the
picturesque coastal Royal Burgh of Crail in
the East Neuk of Fife.
Dec.2012.
Tommy Morris said " By the way the camp was at Millport in 1954 and not Crail."

April 2016, email from Fabiano Smeaton,
age 19yrs, Glasgow. Hi there I have seen
that my grandpa had commented back in 2011 in
the GlescaPals. A photo was taken in 1954. He
was in the 217th Boys Brigade, Glasgow,
Flemington, Cambuslang. I was wondering if you
have any photos of him and if you could ask the
other men who commented on the 1954 photo to see
if they have pictures too. I'm
Donald's grandson.
Jan.2012,
Webmaister
I met Ian
Inglis (4th row no.1) in Cambuslang Parish
church on Sunday and he was telling me how
delighted he was to have seen this old
photograph, which stirred fond memories.
Jan.2012,
email from Jim Semple, Toronto, Canada
I was
astonished to find a photograph of the 217th
BB CAMP
Please add my
name Jim Semple---back row 2nd from the left
and if I may suggest a correction, the young
fella at extreme right back row, #5 in your
chart is Jim Cunningham. I should know he was
my best Buddy!
The Captain was a gentleman called Marshall,
front row centre, and in addition I was one
who emigrated to Canada in June 1955.
My compliments to GlescaPals website &
Robert Russell in evoking such wonderful
memories. "These were the days my Friends"
Kind Regards,
Jim Semple
May.2012,

No 6 in the photo is Willie McMahon

July.2012,
email from Donald Marshall, Spain
I was surfing the net from my home
in Spain when I was surprised and delighted
to find a photograph of the 217th Boys
Brigade at their camp in Crail. My
father was the Captain at that time
and I have very fond memories of the various
camps I attended not least Millport and St
Andrews. The company at that
time had a very good bugle band, I remember
the drummers preparing their drums before a
competition, this in our house which was a
small room and kitchen in Church Street,
Cambuslang.
Our Family moved to East
Kilbride as did many others from the
Cambuslang/Flemington/Halfway area. My dad
kept a keen interest in the Boys Brigade
through the 4th East Kilbride Company where I
was a member of the Lifeboys section and
eventually becoming an officer in the senior
section. Happy memories.
My Dad died in 2007, however my
mother still lives in East Kilbride, she will
be thrilled when I show her this picture.
Thanks for your time and effort, all the best.

front steps of a vacated church where we had
set up our sleeping bags at
an indoor campsite ....minus the tents. There were bats in the belfry and a
huge pipe organ was still in place.
